Community Based Prevention Specialist - F/T

 

Appy to be part of a team that will develop and enhance community involvement in substance abuse prevention; assist in the building of community coalitions by providing information and trainings for the

prevention providers and coalitions throughout the Mid-Hudson region. A position with the Mid-Hudson Prevention Resource Center (MHPRC) involves building relationships with existing community

coalitions and for developing new ones. You will work collaboratively with the MHPRC team to plan and execute community networking events and other training opportunities. The main goal of the MHPRC is

to assist with community/coalition substance misuse prevention to foster a reduction in youth substance use in their catchment areas.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Education or familiarity in General Prevention, Community Mobilizations, the Strategic Prevention Framework and Risk and Protective Factors are preferred

• Strong computer skills are a must, specifically Power Point, Outlook, Social Media and Zoom/GoToMeeting

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must

• Experience collaborating with co-workers and facilitating trainings, virtual/in-person, are preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred

• CPP/CPS, CASAC/CASAC-T or related work experience preferred

• Multilingual a plus, please specify languages spoken and written on resume

 

Job Description:

 

• Position requires ability to regularly travel within the seven-county region and periodical travel to other areas of the state/out-of-state conferences. (Mileage is reimbursed)

• Position is full time, Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm with recurring evening meetings (4-5 per month) and occasional weekend events, totaling a 35-hour work week.

• At this time the position is hybrid (in-office and remote work), with the ability to be full in-office if preferred.
