Must possess expertise with addiction and lived recovery experience, in order to respond to and become a resource/advocate for individuals facing challenges due to their substance use.

 

Main job functions will be: connecting with individuals in various settings within a 2-hour time frame from initial contact, referring individuals to treatment, providing education and information regarding addiction and helping individuals access treatment.

 

Must understand service delivery systems and be able to effectively engage with individuals and other professionals within those systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage 350-hour educational program.
  • Collaborate with local schools, organizations, and businesses to establish partnerships and maximize community engagement opportunities.
  • Promote educational programs across diverse communities and populations.
  • Engage with community members through outreach efforts, including social media, newsletters, and public events.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and gather feedback to continuously improve initiatives.
  • Implement, "Stepping Stones," a community-based grant initiative.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, community development, social sciences or related field or relevant experience
  • Proven experience in community engagement, education, or related roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, including ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of educational principles, adult learning theories, and community development strategies.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural competency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Bilingual a plus.

IMPACT Prevention Specialist - 2 Openings

Who we are: Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council of Orange County, ADAC, is dedicated to addressing the public health issue of substance use disorder by providing support to those in need through prevention, information, referral, and recovery support services.

Location details: These positions will be placed in schools in Orange County.

Your opportunity: Be part of ADAC IMPACT (Improving Mindsets, Policies, and Communities Together), an innovative new approach to prevention services in Orange County.

Responsibilities: Work with school partners to develop comprehensive universal prevention practices across districts and into communities. The Prevention Specialist will develop prevention practices from within the school community which will spread into the community at large.

Qualifications: A strong work ethic and desire to help prevent substance use/misuse amongst young people is required. Experience working in Prevention, Treatment, or Recovery Services is optimal. Experience working in the Human Services field preferred. Candidates with a background in Education, Mental Health, Psychology, Community and Human Services will be given priority consideration.
